Your next step towards doing freelance photography is creating a portfolio. It is important to start building a portfolio of your work, even if you have never sold any pictures or had any pictures publicly displayed. Start by keeping your best photos in your portfolio. As you become more experienced and confident, enter your photos in freelance photography contests.

To work in the freelance photography industry requires a creative imagination, great people skills, along with being knowledgeable in marketing and business. You need patience, artistic ability, a pleasant personality and the ability to get along with people.
