Photography Classes
One of the best ways to improve your photography
skills is to attend one of the many photography classes offered by
colleges, art schools or even community centers. Photography classes
are both theoretical and practical, and will usually include
lecture-style sessions followed by hands-on experience in using the
techniques discussed in the lectures.
Most photography classes are taught by
professional or trained photographers that have experience with many
different aspects of photography. While some classes may be very
specific, such as digital photography or black and white photography,
others are very general in nature. For those photographers that are
just getting started, a general course may be most helpful, whereas an
already experienced photographer may choose one of the specialized
courses to enhance skills or learn a new style of photography.
Most photography classes will be offered either as
weekend courses, or seminars or as evening classes. Some will provide
certificates of completion, whereas other classes will purely be for
information and practical experience. Before considering a photography
class, spend some time researching the instructor and the course
itself, especially if you are requiring a certificate or some type of
specific information or knowledge.
In-person photography classes are a great way to
meet and network with other people in your community that are
interested in photography. In-person classes also provide an
opportunity to observe a professional photographer at work and to ask
specific questions as they arise.

Online classes
For those photographers that already have basic
knowledge, an online class may be an option. Most digital camera
manufacturers offer some basic online classes and there are also
private online photography classes. Usually online classes for
beginners are a bit more challenging, especially if he or she has no
actual practical experience with photography.
Online classes are very similar to in-person
classes in that they focus on one specific area of photography. Online
classes in fashion, digital, black and white, landscape and product
photography are all available. The costs for online photography classes
range from relatively inexpensive to highly personalized tutorial style
classes that can be very expensive. Researching online to find out just
what you need is a good way to stay within your budget but still get
all the information that you need.
Most online classes provide both written content
as well as visual images for your review. Some online classes require
that participants complete various photography assignments and submit
photographs digitally to ensure understanding of the concepts being
taught.
Both online and in-person photography classes are
a wonderful way to learn more about the art. Consider a photography
class to increase your skills in one area or to learn more about
photography in general.
